Simon, while I agree that on the face of it, he isn't doing anything wrong, and that the vast majority are making speculative statements and running with theories, creating rumors, ol Tight pants is worthy of scrutiny and is actually doing something inappropriate.
Were you not, as a witness, admonished regularly, from the platform, and through publication, not to cause your brother to stumble. Not to bring even the hint of reproach upon jehovahs name and the organization? Tony himself has chastised the entire 8 million sheep, as to what they wear, as to witnessing to everyone they come in contact with, lest they become blood guilty. He's regularly appeared on JW Broadcasting, and refers to the Caleb and Sophia cartoon. A cartoon in which one episode encourages young ones to donate their tiny amount of allowance, to the organization, instead of spending it on an ice cream. Given all he has said and endorsed, should he not hold himself to a higher standard? He requires that from his flock... How much more so should he be accountable? He is a hypocrite. He is arrogant. He is worthy of scrutiny, for this action.
I agree, the Cadillac is ridiculous. It's old. If it were new, or within a few years, yah, I might have a problem with that. But it's not. Those mentioning it, as though it's an immodest display or an "ah ha!" He's blowing the flocks donations on expensive materialistic status symbols, are grasping at straws. His trench coat and hat; its freaking raining outside, people. Nothing to see there except more grasping at straws. Speculation over who the booze is for, or if he's a drunk, it's all a stretch, and we aren't doing ourselves any favors making those kinds of accusations, without any conclusive evidence or proof.
...But, the position he holds. The status he elevates himself to, by being extremely vocal and going beyond what is written, insisting on his personal views when admonishing 8 million people, opens him up for our scrutiny. He is in the wrong here, by his own moral code.
