I read the (translated) article, and…
…surprise, surprise…
…it seems having the “sect” label doesn’t curtail their religious activities, interfere with internal policies, or dictate what they’re allowed to believe.
But…
…it does make the WTS ineligible for tax-exemption or government subsidies.
Basically, they’re free to be as authoritarian and discriminatory as they want…
…they just can’t do it on the taxpayer’s dime, anymore.
