    Hi,

I am a real new person to this community. I have no idea about what is what. I have real quick questions. Can anyone answer me this.
    1. Jehovah's witness states that they never go to churches to worship images. But you have concepts called church congregation. What do you exactly mean by that ? What is your concept for church ? Can anyone explain.

    2. Also, I want you people to take a quick look at this site.

Can anyone give me a reply about this site ?

Thanks for having patience in reading my info.

    regards,
    Kumar

But you have concepts called church congregation.

The word "congregation" MEANS "church." It is literally the SAME word. If you look in the New World Translation, everywhere you see the word "congregation" other bibles will say "church."

The truth is, JWs DO go to church. JWs have 1 organization made up of a "governing body" that oversees the corportation. There is a portion of the corporation (3 parts) that oversees all the "congregations" of Jehovah's Witnesses in the organization.

One Kingdom Hall usually holds 2-4 congregations (churches). The Circuit Overseer oversees 20 or more congregations, and the District Overseer oversees several Circuit Overseers.

Each elder in each "church" answers to a Circuit Overseer and the Circuit Overseer answers to the District Overseer.

And there are 4-5 elders for every "church."

It's all basically one huge "city."

The main problem is ...... that God never wanted an organization, and the first organization that was formed, caused anger of God to blaze against Israel.

Hi, Kumarr, and welcome to the board.

1/ When Jehovah's Witnesses say that they never go to churches to worship images, they mean they never attend worship services at any other place than their own Kingdom Halls (which is where their congregation or church body meets). At the Kingdom Hall there are no statues, icons, or stained glass portraits of Bible characters, events, or "saints." Jehovah's Witnesses do not engage in ecumenism. (Although some individual members might breech the rules in their own case to attend a loved one's funeral or church wedding, others would not think of doing so, and would only attend the non-religious portion -- say, the wake at the funeral home, or the reception after the ceremony.)

2/ Tess' site is one of many that is an outreach to Witnesses who are thinking of leaving or ex-Witnesses who have left but are looking for companionship and solace from others who have survived the exit from the high-control group that is Jehovah's Witnesses. Many post on this discussion board for the same reason. Tess' site, however, is offering Christian solace, while here people have divergent views on how to worship (or not) God if s/he even exists.

Since I am not clear on your motive for asking -- are you wanting to "rescue" a Witness relative? Are you doing a study for school? Are you merely curious about the Witness lifestyle because you've met a Witness at work or school? Are you thinking of becoming a Witness yourself? -- I am not sure what further information would be helpful to you.

I will keep an eye on this thread, however, in case you have more questions.

    Again, welcome.
