Fires and Strikes, Oh My!

Well, after two weeks of every major grocery store here being on strike and the smaller markets are having trouble keeping up with the demand, now the sky is gray-orange and ash is EVERYWHERE!

I know, i know, i shouldn't complain because of all the poor folks being evacuated and some even losing their homes. I'm not really complaining though. It's just all very very unusual.

Most of the public seems to be supporting the grocers union strike and not shopping at the major stores. I can't get my favorites of coffee, yogurt, frozen dinners, you name it! But i did find some products almost half the price Von's charges (Splenda) at Target. It's a bit taxing to change the way we do things.

The sky was so smoky this morning when i went out to jog (and quickly went to the gym instead) that the sun appeared a very small orange dusky blob. There was a smoke cloud that looked like a huge thunder cloud. Big bits of ash floating down everywhere.

And that's the way it is in "sunny southern California." I hope we don't get an earthquake next! See a lot of you in Florida in just FOUR days!

    Cheers!

Plus, i'm an open-window fiend (my family used to say the fog was INSIDE our house in the mornings!) and had to shut them today because of all the ash.

I really feel for the ones where the fires are actually burning!

At least up here in Washington, it only rains and the fires have always been to the east

Let's hope no earthquakes to top it all off. California has enough trouble.

Lol @ Red. It seems California has plenty to keep them in the news, eh? The recall, the new governator, the fires, the strikes, and then the occasional earthquake, etc.

    Pat,

I am so looking forward to meeting you in Florida.

Has CHEVYSNATS checked in yet today, do you know? She posted yesterday and was right in the way of the fires, supposed to have been ready to evacuate at any time!

I woke up and noticed smoke in the sky. I knew there was a wildfire going on. But I didn't know it was coming all the way down to San Diego. I was seeing on the news that they're shutting down alot of highways.

Some of the reports we're reading about the California fires are scary. One news account said that 500 houses have been destroyed. I sure hope that all who live there will take the precautions and leave the fire areas when necessary. For those posting on this site, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
