    NEW YORK (AP) -- A G-rated Prince?

It may be hard to believe, but the singer who once provoked shock waves with his X-rated lyrics has sworn off cursing and is preaching about the importance of virtue in the May edition of Gotham magazine.

Prince, who is now a Jehovah's Witness, said that "when you use those (curse) words, you call up all the anger, all the negatives times the word has been used before -- you bring it toward yourself. Why would you want that?"

Prince also told the magazine that teens need more God in their lives.

"When I look at the violence, I wonder where the parents are, but also where is God in their lives? A kid is an open computer ready for programming. Some weird relationships happen, smoking too early and sex."

Jehovah's Witnesses are an apocalyptic group that interprets the Bible differently than traditional Christian organizations.

Stopping cursing is not exactly what I would call an enormous act of faith.

To show he has real faith, I suggest that Prince give every penny of money he has to the poor and begin a life of volunteer work.

Joel I agree 100%! I know a woman who does everything BUT curse. Shes born again, has a fit when anyone even says "shit", meanwhile she has premarrital sex, lies to the state , changes price tags in the store and many other things. But curse words are such a big sin.

How often does the Media tell the truth? ... Prince a Witness! LOL ... Wheres the proof? ... Has he given up his career or just given up swearing.

Since when has the WBTS ever accepted someone of Princes calabre, without radical changes.

Just look at the Witness's, do any of them really have a mind of their own and stay in the Borg? They censor music, dress, entertainment and everthing else you care to mention. Is Prince going to be devoting his time to preaching every week, 5 meetings a week, study WBTS literature for the meetings every other night? Is he going to become assimilated?

When I see proof of him doing all of this then I'll believe he is part of the collective.
