What you describe as "refresh my avatar" is really "Refresh Gravatar" which is a separate avatar service based on your email address:
It gives you a preview of the avatar that it will refresh to and if you haven't registered one with that site it will make up a little monster icon to tell people apart.
If you want your own image then use the "Upload Avatar Image" OR upload an image to the gravatar service (using the same email as you have on this site) and then refresh it to make it reload.

wannaexit, I went back to some of your older posts. It looks like the image was saved as a .png file.
here it is:(not sure if it is usable but you should be able to right click on it and save it)
