I think I told ya'll that I started a new job as a Small Group Leader (instructor) at the Non-Commissioned Officer's Academy here at Ft Jackson. (I just can't get a ride to Iraq or Afghanistan no matter how hard I try...I'm stuck here for another two years...which the family likes). ANYWAY...I took my first class out to the field for a training exercise in which I evaluate them on the 13 Common Leader Combat Skills, stuff like "Defend", "React to Ambush", Break Contact", Apply Troop Leading Procedures" and other things that all Sergeants First Class should know. Anyway, it was a blast. It was really fun watching the students grow in knowledge and confidence over the four day exercise. There's a real satisfaction in this...whether their success be academic or tactical.

The hours are still REAL long...as witnesseed by my reduced posting of late, but the field exercise was fun though I didn't get a lot of sleep.

Anyway, that's what I've been doing....miss ya all.

Train them well, Yeru, we need good NCO's.

I attended the NCO Academy in Ft. Bragg in 1974. It was a good course, but I also liked it getting over too, lol. Made me feel good graduating 13th in the class on the Commandants list.

Keep in touch as you can.
