I'm assuming that he answered that way because he wanted to avoid falling into a potential trap if he gave the honest answer. Which should be embarrassing for him and the GB. Don't they teach that JWs must be ready to give a truthful and faithful testimony, even in the face of persecution or at risk of their safety? When given a chance to do so, Jackson slapped his fellow GB members across the face by calling them presumptuous, lol.

The sadder thing is that the others are not offended by this. They know why he lied and they support it, even though they would threaten rank-and-file JWs with disfellowshipping if they were to act so cravenly as to deny the authority of the GB.

One time I encountered an elder at a cart.

I told him about Jackson's testimony: "I think would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that God is using."

I said, "You can google it and see and hear him saying it. My question is, 'Why didn't he boldly tell the truth about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe in that regard? Isn't that what Jehovah's people are supposed to do when they witness? If the organization is just one way among many, then why do people need to become Jehovah's Witnesses?"

He just said, "I haven't heard the statement so I'm not going to comment on it."

I replied: "You need to go listen to it because that really bothered me. It wasn't what I would expect from an ordinary JW, let alone from an anointed member of the Governing Body."

That was the last contact I had with him. I hope and pray that became a stone in his shoe and that it would lead him to wake up.

Ding - Maybe it did. Good for you being able to quote Jackson's testimony. I have found that most JW's don't want to hear it. They are depressed over what they know to be the case, but powerless to do anything about it. Secretly they hope it will collapse and they will be free. I experienced that right before I left.

I'm sure the elder didn't want to hear about Jackson's testimony.

I framed it as, "I'm really upset that a member of the Governing Body would say that instead of boldly witnessing to what he believes is the truth."

That's what I thought would bother him the most as well and I wanted it to be a stone in his shoe.

I also told him that if he doubted me he should google it himself. After all, it's the testimony of a member of the Governing Body, not of some opposer of the truth.
