    Christians ask JW's, Is Sincerity enough to save a person from the murderous reign of the anti-christ during the Great Tribulation?

    Stephen Lett Is Always Trying to Give ...

    All kidding aside; why do JW's seem to always point out their sincerity when their lies are exposed? They seem awfully proud of their sincereity.

    Hmmmm.... they don't believe the sincerity of belief that other Christian's hold, is enough to save them from destruction at Armageddon!

    What's good for the goose and all that....

    I can't think of a good example without giving myself away but my jw would often say it is all about 'motive' and being 'sincere'. They/he might have lied but their motive was good, they might have been false prophets err, said a wrong date but their motive was good and so on. They were sincere, the gb told them.... I have told him time and again that he must make sure of all things, it won't matter a hill of beans if in the end you say, "well, someone told me to believe and do this". You are responsible for yourself. (if you believe in an afterlife that is, if not, carry on, it doesn't matter then what you believe or do)

    Diogenesister has it exactly right!

    carla, you are exactly right. I have heard over the years stuff like:

    1. Jehovah judges us based on our

    * intent

    * conscience

    * sincerity

    * motive

    Never even a hint that God judges us based on the ten commandments.

    Your statement about failed prophecies is spot on as well too. One prominent JW flat out told me that 1975 the failed prediction showed alertness (motive) even if they got it wrong. Why it never occurred to him (or me at that time) that the OT punishment for speaking in the name of God with a false prophecy was death, is quite odd looking back.

    Oh well, at least he was sincere, sincerely wrong.
