Life without God

Picking up on some thoughts in an earlier thread, I have a question.

What does living without God mean or to put it in the positive, what does living with God mean? What do you define as a life without God?
What specific differences are there between a life without God and a life with God? Do these differences affect: your behavior? your viewpoint on life? your goals?

    Thank you for your input.

    hey joelbear; nice question.

Life without god is the acceptance that you can't explain everything; why are we here? where we are going? what does it all mean? are essentially non-questions as they are unanswerable.

There is no divine porpoise, not even a holy dolphin, let alone a god.

Without getting side-tracked into explaining WHY I don't believe in god (it wasn't your question) essentially we are an inevitable coincidence.

But no god (for me) also means no afterlife. This is it.

This concept 'this is it', is the key of what living life without god means for me.

If life is essentially meaningless, that doesn't mean we can't give it meaning.

Finding that meaning is each individuals life course. It differs between people. Some succeed to one extent or another. Some die feeling they've failed. I want to die feeling I've made something of it.

    Simple.

I do have a concept of immortality; Bach, Leonardo, Darwin, Lennon - they're all immortal. But even us base rubes can achieve some sense of immortal; our children and our friends who will carry our memories after we are gone.

SO, in all, the lack of God takes way nothing. I can assume nothing, hope for nothing, I have no 'map' to follow.

All I can do is the best I can do, and the best I can do is good enough.
