Take an example of a young man who grows up in a religious belief system JW or something. He mostly believes it but in truth is agnostic so is not absolute sure one way or another.
but he goes through the motions and gets married has kids, his kids grow up with the religious belief system. His wife is also technically a believer but they both have an overall agnostic approach.
this would be the text book life. The Bible grounds you, keeps you steady. It centres you and gives you a baseline.
it May not be the Bible it may be Buddhist or Islam. But in the Western world mostly some kind of religious belief system to do with the Bible.
I know of such a man in his 80s who was brought up a JW. Imagine the changes he has seen in his life as a JW. Now he hears the update that toasting is ok and he is clinking glasses saying cheers everyone. Something doesn’t sit right with him.
He got married about 60 years ago. Had kids who they brought up all JWs and now has many grandchildren all JWs.
He has led a textbook life. Because of his religious belief system he has had a happy family and good social life with really good friends. Even though he is actually PIMA and he is genuinely agnostic but he hopes the Bibles promises are true.
he is living a much happier life than if he left the JWs or whatever other religious group.
Take Lloyd Evans for example, he made his choices to betray his family with prostitutes and texting underage girls. He has made a mess of his life.
if he stayed a JW even if he was agnostic then he would have led a text book life. Relatively happy family clean and together. Good friends and social life. Real friends that will be there for him.
he certainly would have been more happy staying a JW even if PIMA so agnostic as to the truth about the Bible. His wife would have been much happier and his kids would have been more stable.
his kids are probably going to be messed up now with what they have been told from their JW grandparents and now their new step dad.
