Dozens of service members have been wounded in the explosion as well, the officials added.
The death toll of the U.S. service members also is likely to rise, US officials tell Fox News' Jennifer Griffin.

The Pentagon on Thursday confirmed that several U.S. service members have been killed after two explosions went off near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.
U.S. military code has this to say:
