TEMPTATION, by WHOM?

    Is Temptation caused by God or Satan or both?In this weeks wt.study on page 16,and 17 under self -control in marriage,the par.quotes 1Corinthians 7:3,5,

    "That Satan may not keep tempting you for your lack of self regulation." Now,the scripture is talking about the sexual due between husband and wife and regulating this so that there will be time for spiritual matters.

    But the part that interests me is where it says that Satan can and will tempt the marriage partners for their lack of self regulation in this area of sexual due.

    So,is Satan in the bedroom?How does he know when you give the marriage due or not?

    Next,when Jesus gave the Model Prayer,Mt 6:13,he asks God not to bring us into temptation.Is he implying that God can and will tempt us too?

    Does both Satan and God tempt us to sin.And how does one get insight,courage and determination from God,as the wt.study says so as not to sin when tempted when we are by nature imperfect and sinful all the time?

    The official JW version is that Satan is in control of the system and God allows Satan to tempt us -- subtle use of words -- anyway this is all because a talking snake persuaded a naked woman in a garden called Eden to eat a piece of fruit

    Imagine, blue blades,

    If the scriptures you quoted were just that; writings from an ancient text that survived to our current culture and are, well, MEANGINGLESS to us and our way of life in the 21 century.

    Imagine that you ( and your spouse) could decide for yourselves what kind of "relationship" you have in the bedroom. Imagine all the decisions you could think and make for yourself--with no annoying "big brother" to tell you what to do and how to do it. Imagine that what religion ( any kind that is not supportive) tells you is temptation; may just be----OPPORTUNITY... who else to make that decision but YOU.

    Actually, in the context, the passage has to do with being tempted because of vows of celebacy (!) inside a marriage. Celebacy in marriage is NOT good, and can lead to temptation. The marriage bed is honorable in all--no GB allowed to say different. It's okay to imagine... and more!

    I actually know of a couple that deliberately practices celebacy in marriage. They started reading a book by a Catholic bishop (cardinal?) who claimed to be getting messages from Mary (channelling!!??). (I think it was, Mary's Message to the Church or something like that.) And sex, according to Mary (via this guy), is ONLY for procreation. I was proudly told that they hadn't been together for over a year. But if you could see the before and after, you would shake your head: the tension in that household is incredible! They are really messed up.

    I think praying 'not to lead us into temptation' is something we pray, not because God is rubbing his hands about how he might cause us trouble, but because it is an attitude we need to develop: to really WANT to stay out of trouble. To actively search for good, not evil paths.

    I can't imagine any married man saying not tonight hunny lets finish our WT study first.

    Now,the scripture is talking about the sexual due between husband and wife and regulating this so that there will be time for spiritual matters.

    Between meeting preperation and meetings and FS a typical dub could expend 10 hrs a week on spiritual matters. How many couples have sex that often..especially if your a 30 second sprinter not a marathon runner like me
