    SAN ANTONIO — We are learning more about a man charged with molesting several children he met through church.

    Joshua Alvarez, 21, is out of jail on $75,000 bond. We have learned from church members he was a Jehovah’s Witness and attended services at the Kingdom Hall on Pleasonton Road on the city's South Side.

    Alvarez is accused of molesting several children he met through what police would only say is a ‘religious congregation.’

    No one at the Kingdom Hall here was willing to talk to me on camera.

    According to court papers, two 4-year-old boys told their parents that Alvarez performed sexual acts on them. Alvarez allegedly confessed to the crimes to the victim’s parents.

    The following statements from WT top brass are heard time and time again when a JW child molester is identified. They're beginning to sound like a broken record:

    As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we view child sexual abuse as an especially repugnant wicked deed.
    Child abuse has far-reaching consequences. It a?ects the victims as well as those who care about the victims —their family members and their Christian brothers and sisters.
    A child abuser hurts the child in devastating ways. He betrays the child’s trust, robbing the child of his or her security. Children must be protected from such a wicked deed, and those who have been victimized by it need comfort and help.
    The elders provide ongoing support to any individuals who may have been hurt. In addition, the elders remain alert regarding the alleged abuser to protect the congregation from potential danger.

    JW`s speak out of both sides of their mouth.

    Wow! Here was there chance to give a witness and they passed it up. Better get back to standing next to a literature cart.

    Well duh, of course they're gonna condemn a former member.

    It plays into...

    a) ...the propaganda that the WTS deals with abusers adequately, and...

    b) ...the rhetoric that only non-JWs (or, even better, XJWs) actually do that kind of thing.

    It's when a current member "in good standing" commits an offense that they clam up.
