I’ve long been interested in the death of Dr David Kelly – I bought Norman Baker’s book and I recently bought a book by Miles Goslett on the topic.

In his book, Norman Baker mentions Danny Casolaro. He was a freelance journalist who, like Dr Kelly, was also ‘suicided’.

I’ve just been watching part one of a two part documentary on Casolaro’s ‘suicide’ … and am fascinated with the parallels to Kelly’s death.

Prior to their deaths, both men were involved in highly sensitive matters – Kelly had come forward to a journalist to blow the whistle on the Blair government’s sexed-up dossier; Casolaro had been gathering information on underground activities involving the US government and the CIA.

Both men were found with their wrists slashed.

There were certain discrepancies in both cases. Casolaro was apparently squeamish and wouldn’t even go to the hospital for blood tests but he was found dead in a bathtub with blood in the water and on the floor.

In the case of Dr Kelly, the main discrepancy that sticks out for me involves the position of his body. It was first found by two search volunteers slumped against a tree, the head and shoulders resting against the base of the tree. Then the volunteers left the scene, leaving Kelly’s body with DC Coe. The DC stayed with the body for 25 minutes until the paramedics and others arrived. The paramedics and others reported that Kelly was laying on his back near a tree – not slumped up against it.

In both cases the authorities behaved strangely. Casolaro’s body was moved from the scene of death and embalmed before his relatives had been told he had died.

And re Kelly, UK authorities ruled that photos of his body and other bits and pieces of evidence be locked away for 70 years (!).

Do I think the governments of the US and the UK would murder their own citizens to cover up their false push for war?

Absolutely I believe they would. Those deaths were suspicious and the fact that the evidence is locked away is clearly to allow the guilt to live out their lives without facing the justice that they should.

Not familiar with this particular story. But it does remind me of the Gary Webb story. Except in Gary Webb's case, the government didn't kill him, just ruined his reputation for exposing the CIA's connection to drug dealers bringing cocaine into US and using the profits to fund Nicaraguan Rebels.

The movie is worth watching if you're into these types of stories:

Although the reasons for the order of the hit were different, a BBC documentary suppressed for nearly 40 years has just been released about the Jeremy Thorpe scandal https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b5y97j Well worth a watch.
