Let me guess on this one. The WT has lots of properties, old ones, and as they have many people in construction already working in many areas, they had to get certification for doing remedial asbestos work.
I don't think this is a side business--yet if there is proof that the WTBTS has contracted itself out to work for anyone beside its own properties, that would seem quite strange! Does anyone know if this has happened?

The WTS does have a lot of older buildings to maintain. When at all possible, the WTS trains Bethel staff to do this. They also comply with all regulations, licensing and training that the government requires. The WTS is not sending out the Bethel staff to inspect non-WT properties. It is a money-saving measure.
