A friend who's not posted here before has asked me to post this for him.

    Dear Friends,

I’m working on a project that, I'm sorry, but I can’t yet make public - as I don't want to give WT advance warning - but it will be big news at some time in the future.

It's only for xJWs in the UK, a similar USA project may follow, depending on the success of this one.

    • Were you abused whilst you were (or still are) a Jehovah's Witness?
    • Was the abuse reported to the police?

I would very much like to speak to you. It will, of course, be 100% confidential: if you wish, you can use a fake name and withhold your telephone number. If you would prefer a friend to call on your behalf, that is also fine.

This is NOT about solicitors, lawyers, lawsuits or compensation. Nor is it about joining another religion, etc!

I would really appreciate if we could talk. I'm an xJW myself - I stopped going to meetings around 15 years ago - and am very friendly. 😊

    Call me on 07585 426905.

    Charlie

Not even a second name? No credentials, no insight to what its about.

I imagine response levels will be low. Can you supply more information on who "Charlie" is and what he is planning on doing? Further info may help.

The Charities Commission asked the same thing. Maybe Charlie should share his big news with them first.

The anonymity is problematic but perhaps not the major worry here. The opening line that you were asked to post is a little on the unsettling side. Whoever your friend is, s/he appears to have no idea about the effects on victims of disclosures to unqualified strangers. It is clinically wrong on so many levels. Even someone with a rudimentary knowledge of trauma would not go about things the way your friend has.

As he said, 'Charlie' is concerned, on a public forum, of saying too much that would give WT warning of work that is being done behind the scenes.

Anyone is free to call him and make up their own minds whether or not he is genuine. I've known him for a couple of years and have no doubt whatsoever.

As for myself, I left (faded) in 2003 and used to be pretty active here and this forum was a tremendous help in moving on.

But it's okay to talk about it on this forum without WT getting wind of what's being done? Especially his saying (to quote from the OP), "...it will be big news at some time in the future"?

There's a big difference between knowing that some unspecified actions are being planned, and knowing details of what actions are being planned.

I guess you could say, the devil's in the details!
