Your confusion may come because of the differences in law. In Britain, Canada and other countries the law requires "full disclosure" of finances. All of the financial statements of the Watchtower are available for public scrutiny. But in the U.S. this is not required. And the Watchtower Society has chosen not to declare its financial assets. They are kept secret from the public and their own members.
The Billy Graham organization has encouraged other religious groups to be open by "full disclosure." But the Watchtower Society has chosen not to be one of them. Members have been surprised at the wealth of the Watchtower organizations outside the U.S.A. One can only guess at the extent of the wealth of the Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society in the U.S. Indications are that it is extremely wealthy not only in property but in tangible dollars and cents.
In Jesus' day it was said of the Pharisees that they were "lovers of money." It is not hard to identify the Pharisees of our own time.
