Doubtful Apostle John's 'mark of the beast' referred to the moment Danelo Cavalcante was captured yesterday, after being on the run for 13 days.

'Then around 1 a.m., thermal imaging from a fixedwing aircraft of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency detected a heat signature in the woods west of Route 100 and north of Prizer Road. Tactical teams from the U.S. Border Patrol and the state police began to converge on that area before thunderstorms forced the police aircraft to land, Bivens said. Police on the ground held the area to prevent any possible escape and resumed the search Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 8 a.m., tactical teams converged on the area where the heat source was detected, Bivens said. “The were able to move in very quietly. They had the element of surprise,” Bivens said. “Cavalcante did not realize he was surrounded until that had occurred.” That did not prevent Cavalcante from trying to escape, and he tried crawling out from the underbrush, Bivens said. Cavalcante was still armed with a rifle that he had stolen from a house Monday night.

A police dog subdued him, and teams moved in. He continued to resist, but was forcibly taken into custody, Bivens said. Cavalcante sustained a minor dog bite wound to his head and was treated at the scene, Bivens said. There were no other injuries.'
