Interesting... what's the GC? It sounds rather like the GB.

The GC is the General conference of SDA just like the GB. Well they do come together people from all around the world and debate issues but are like the GB in that they are hirerarchical. Barry

One former Jehovah's Witness who is a Born Again Christian mentioned that when she was trying to figure out if Jehovah's Witnesses were the True Faith as well as what is the True Faith if they weren't she saw names of Religions looked at Adventists and saw Jehovah's Witnesses listed under Adventists and she was thinking how is this possible or that this was the 1st time she ever heard any such thing.
Under Jehovah's Witnesses she also found break away groups (I believe Dawn Bible Students was listed since they are a break away group and claim Charles Taze Russell as a Founder).
Indeed though one who is a Jehovah's Witness does end up asking questions when they actually read stuff critical of The Watchtower Society (Gee I think this is why The Watchtower don't like members to read anything Critical of them especially if the Material is written by former Jehovah's Witnesses).

RPM, Yes, in the Encyclopedia of American Religions, a 2,000 page very LARGE volume, to the tune of 350.00, a volume mostly used for libraries and Universities, the Jehovah's Witnesses, Watchtower Society and Bible Students are listed separately under the banner of "Adventist Family."
As to the DAWN, they were formed out of a radio show in the early 1920s and took the Name DAWN in 1932.
Most historians however, will acknowledge that the Jehovah's WItnesses are an offshoot of the Bible Students, since the Bible Students were formed first, before thr JW's in 1931, and before the Watchtower in 1879.
