THERE’S A KILLER ON THE ROAD
(A poem for Jehovah’s Witnesses)
Sunshine spills across the backyard
Sunday morning half past six
Coffee on the kitchen counter,(where’s my glasses?)
Tick tick ticks
that old clock in the shadows
Crickets dancing with cicadas
Painting sounds like drunken *Dadas*
But - Uh oh…here we go…
Kiss your perfect day goodbye, my friend
The world is broken - it’s the end
Jehovah whispers warnings and we heard
Time is up
please sing along these fateful words:
………………There’s a killer on the Road
………………the End of Days approaching
……………….There’s a killer on the Road
………………. What we fear is here encroaching
No escape
No tomorrow
Mouths agape
World wrenching sorrow bye- the- bye
Man, oh man, it’s just too late to cry
Oh wait!
False alarm, we’re over-anxious
There’s no harm
Sure you’re nauseous but I guess we’re over cautious
Another day
Are you okay?
But-umm…
There’s a Killer on the road
And his name is ARMAGEDDON
He’s the final episode
Feel a chill, your senses deaden?
All the warning and complaining
was a way of us explaining
Sunday sunshine means it’s raining in your yard
So be humble on your knees and thank the Lord
Reality is bending
‘Cause our world is always ending
I know it sounds appalling but watch out - the sky is falling!
Knocking doors and reading Bibles
Persevering - well, it’s liable
to wear you out, and make your mind explode
(but let's just remind you of our quote)
………………There’s a killer on the Road
………………the End of Days is fast approaching
……………….There’s a killer on the Road
………………. What we fear is here encroaching
Don’t relax
We know the facts
A hundred years anticipating the attacks
Watch the skies
mind your manners
Preach the word and fly the banners
Everybody has to carry their own load
It’s been foretold:
THERE’S A KILLER ON THE ROAD
(Look over there - is that him? Um…I think it is…maybe?)
No. Just another false alarm.
But just in case, grab your baby
Well…as I was saying:
Sunshine spills across the backyard
Sunday morning half past six
Coffee on the kitchen counter, (where’s my glasses?)
Tick tick ticks
that old clock in the shadows
Crickets dancing with cicadas
Painting sounds like drunken *Dadas*
But - Uh oh…once again - oh here we go…
“Hey everybody - I um, I think I may have spotted the uh…I mean..it looks like
THERE’S A KILLER ON THE ROAD…..again.”
