The inactive sister used the word "faded" today and I am wondering if she has been on this site or not?
Do the dubs know apostate language like fade, etc....

I'd say that "faded" is definitely only an "apostate" term. I don't know of it being used by WT publications or "in the dark" JWs. . . . . Doc

"Faded" is a very common Icelandic transitive adjective that relates to the 23 sounds made by creeping ice under the light of a full moon.
I think it is cool (thermally speaking) that you know someone from Iceland.

The JW rough equivalent term is "drifting out of the truth". -

Geoff Jackson used it during the ARC.

"Falling/fallen away" was what I used to hear regarding those who stopped attending meetings etc.

I used the term once while I was still in, simply because it seemed like the most accurate way to describe inactives who quietly withdrew.
I had no idea at the time that it was an actual label used by the XJW community (but I wasn't surprised when I found out :smirk:).

Geoff Jackson used it during the ARC.
Yes, Jackson did use the word "fade" - once - but only after Angus Stewart (senior counsel) had used it in one of his questions to Jackson where its meaning was very obvious.
Whether Jackson had ever heard or seen the word "fade" used that way before is pure conjecture.
What we do know from the Royal Commission transcript is Jackson did not spontaneously use the word but only in response to Angus Stewart's very specific question.
