Does anyone own a Sony Wega TV set?

I bought one a few days ago, and I always did love the picture quality of Sony TV's. But the Wega model is different. The picture is very dark. I like Sony because the colors are like real, the picture is crystal clear, but the picture is so dark. Trying to adjust the contrast and brightness doesn't make things much better, because the tube gives a very dark picture. All Sony Wega TV's are like that.

So all depending on what you watch on TV, the picture will be either awsome if there is sufficient lighting or too dark when watching some other programs. If I adjust the picture to be less dark, and then I change chanel, I have to adjust the picture once more for a different chanel where it might be too bright like a hockey game on a white skating rink.

I was just wondering if any of you have a Sony Wega TV and if you find the picture too dark?

I rather the older Sony models, but they are discontinued. :(

I used to have one, didn't have a darkness problem with it. Mine had different picture modes for "movie" or "sports" etc, which adjusted various piture levels, some were brighter than others.

I don't own a Sony, but my TV has an energy saving mode that you can change from the menu. With it in this mode the tv is alot dimmer. I have seen a few Wega's and the picture always looks great maybe you have a defective unit.

Sony's old stuff was good. Their new stuff is crap. I refuse to buy anything made by Sony unless it's 20 years (or older). I had a Sony CD player in my car. Eventually, the thing would only play CDs in the daytime. Don't ask me why, I couldn't figure it out.

No, the unit I have is not defective. All Wega's are the same. The only difference is that in the store they boost the contrast to the maximum, so the picuture looks great. Also they have a digital signal.

I had the basic Wega TV. The more expensive one has addtional controls to set the picture to Sport, Movie, Normal.etc. The picture is great, unless you have a dark movie, or a person wearing dark cloths. Then, it's lousy to look at. I prefer their older TV's, but they are discontinued.

I made a search on google Sony Wega Reviews, and many who bought that TV find it also very dark. Many say that the TV broke after only a few months. Quality isn't what it used to be...

Sony TVs are some of the best IMO. You should calibrate your TV using a DVD such as "Video Essentials."

I have a Sony Wega, but it has the "movie," "sports," etc mode adjustment like Random said. I also have a digital signal and did go into the menu to adjust all the contrast, colors and hues.
