I must clear my conscience. I watched this movie the other day even after swearing, on this board I might add, I would never watch it due to the fact that the maker Roman Palanski is a child abuser.

Ok, throw your stones now if you must. LOL

I must admit that this was an incredible movie. It was so powerful! It has been a week now since I watched it and I am still thinking about the movie. This movie and others like it really make you question the kind of person you are.

In such circumstances I wonder how I would react. Would I have such will to live and do everything in my power to rescue myself? Or would I just go along with everyone else and hope to be rescued one day.

I saw this movie last night. There were many messages sent in this movie and Polanski did a great job in capturing the complexity of the Nazi occupation in Poland. This movie is hands down one of the best I've seen.

We watched it last weekend too, and I was very cautious. I usually cannot watch Holocaust movies because they disturb me too much, and I literally will not be able to sleep. The inhumanity of the Nazis is too much for me to take. So, I watched it, thinking I would turn it off if it got too bad, and I was able to stand it. It was a very powerful movie and I can see why Adrian Brody won the Oscar. He was wonderful. Happy endings are necessary for me.

It does upset me that Roman Polanski was involved but he also did a great job.

I saw this movie when it first came out. I must admit, I wasn't really sure what it was even about. I had gotten tickets to see it free so I went with a friend. I wasn't surprised it received the praise it did although I found it long and depressing. It really wasn't my type of movie, but at the same time I couldn't help but respect the acting and work in the story and of course the story itself takes your breath away that one could survive under such ordeals. I always thought about persecution coming and living under such horrendous things for JWs, (I was still then although inactive, still considering myself a witness when I saw it... so those things always scared me for things ahead)

We watched it too. It was really disturbing to say the least. I get real upset watching movies about the holocaust because of my children. I can't stand to think about it.

Just imagine raising your children (of which you are one of them) thinking this kind of persecution might happen to us at anytime? That was awful.

We heard all through the years how much burden is off of those who come out of Christendom and do not have to fear hellfire, etc etc..

but what do they think they put us through preparing us for dealing with persecution ahead for JWs. I was so scared for my children as well as myself. My ex husband and I even hid a bible in the sheetrocked wall of our remodel job to make sure we had one incase our literature was confiscated.. ironic that neither of us are witnesses any more..

what freedom now not to be so afraid. Not to watch a movie and think, that is what we have ahead.. I used to think those people who died in natural death faithful JWs were lucky because they didn't have the hell we had ahead..

i watched this movie recently also and thought it was superb, really a great movie.

my grandparents and mother are polish and i grew up with stories of things that went on in poland during the hollocaust, we went to Auschwitz when i was a kid and i'll never forget the video footage they showed there, part of the deal of was to get locked into one of the gas chambers, i think it was harrowing for everyone, i remember my mom came out in tears shaking.

has anyone seen a movie called 'The Grey Zone' starring Steve Buscemi, David Arquette & Harvey Keitel? as a graphic depiction of the death camp and what people had to do and will do, i think it's definitely worth watching.

I haven't seen the movie. I will, I imagine, someday. But I'm wondering why this thread is under jokes and humor?... Were we supposed to make fun of you for going back on your word, Sandy?
