When i was studying[ but baptised ]at my home some 20years ago ,with an elder from our hall, i asked him a question about christians wearing a cross .To me it was a symble of rememberence,a sacrafice. I asked why jws dont, or wont wear a symble of Jesus dieing on a stack either on their neck or in their home ,a symble of rememberence? His reply was" If a loved one died in a car accident would you wear a rememberence of the car around youre neck? I remember thinking then ,people who have lost loved ones cherish them in their own ways no matter what they choose to do. I am curious what you think of the elders quote. After all these years that is the only thing i can remember him saying. Most of the time i was thinking LA_LA_i cant hear you. kls

That is in the jw robot response handbook.

Most jw's reply with words like this without really thinking - they are progammed.

I have used a similar illustration - I fully agree with witnesses on this. Let me say right now if people choose to wear a cross/jewelry of this nature that is their business and I do not condemn for this. I peronally would not wear as a memory , a symbol of the instrument that put to death someone like Christ or any other person for that matter. Let us say somebody had killed my father with a bullet -- I would not wear a bullet or that bullet around my neck or anywhere else - -but that is my personal choice and this is just MHO

I just think crosses are cool. I'm not religious but I wear one.

As for the example, Jesus died for our sins, not from an accident. God sent him down here to do good and when Jesus was done, he went back up to heaven. I think a better example is that Jesus was just visiting earth. People take pictures of their relatives before they leave to go back home. Jesus left earth by dying. So why not wear something to remember his visit to earth?

That makes more sense to me.

As still pointed out, its a personal choice, unless you're a JW then it is a mandated choice and you have to feign a personal conviction on it. To be honest though, I never had a problem with the societies viewpoint on it. The only problem I had was that you weren't allowed to disagree with that opinion.

    and don't forget...It wasn't a CROSS it was a STAKE

I like crosses for the decorative element myself, plus it just feels badddd to wear one now

I always wondered what would happen if I walked into the hall wearing one. I can imagine the looks and gasps! lol

I think they are cute for jewlery, but personally i dont hold any religious connection to it.
