I watched this movie for the first time today and I noticed some disturbing similarities with the personalities of JWs. The way they train their children and wives so they become robots to serve Jehovah, but most importantly of all, to make their husbands and fathers look good and boost their egos. If you haven't watched this movie or Stepford Wives, take a look. Thoughts? :-) x

I don't remember any Stepford kids when I was in, but I have seen some recently, and frankly it is frightening.

There minds have been fully taken over !

Just think, the boys are going to be the Elders of the future, and the girls their obedient wives.

Think a bit further, and these are the people you are supposed to want to spend Eternity with !

Strangly enough I never experienced this in my congregation. All of my JW friends were hypocites who payed lip service (and field service) to Org during meetings and then did what they wanted the rest of the time.

One of my best friends actually seemed to believe in Jehovah and that he was going to be destroyed at Armageddon for his sinful lifestyle, but that didn't stop him from drinking, smoking, cursing, and dating.

My other best friend was even more cynical. She openly admitted to me that the meetings bored her to death and even though she was an elder's daughter, the only rule she followed in her life was "Thou shalt not get caught." Heh, and she never did...

I remember watching the original movie on TV and thinking it was similar to what was going on in the hall, even though I was young at the time and had only been a jw for a short time at that point.

They were controlling what the women wore, made sure they were subservient to the men, and told them what to think.

I did NOT want to dress like Holly Hobby like the other girls at the kh.

Lately, I've taken to calling the Warwick compound "Mayberry" (although "Watchtowistan" still works). :smirk:

There was one girl who's Dad was an elder and she was the only child. She sat between her parents at every meetings, gave amazing comments and there was never a time she was taken outside for a good spanking! My sister and I were frequently take outside for that, including a few other children we mixed with (none of them are JWs now) but the "good child"still attends with her children and sits with her parents. Some thing never change!

When I had contact with my family recently it was as if I had gone back in time. They were all exactly the same as I remembered, just older. There was no sign of moving forward and life development, whereas I had been many places and experienced so many things that have changed me as a person. My family assume I have not changed because they haven't! It is so strange. :-O xxx
