Canada re the freedom of information act. When someone moves to a new congregation a letter of introduction is sent. Usually the elders use this opportunity to list all the negative things about the person or family so they have a black cloud above them for years to come in their new hall. Well, this new confidential letter instructs the elders that after reading the letter to destroy it and not keep it in any congregation files. Isnt that interesting. Talk about covering up something.......................by destroying it.....................

In my country, all letters are to be destructed after having been read. After the service meetings, the elders are busy at such a "paper-destruction-machine" cutting the paper into tiny strip, even stripping up their notes for the talks they gave at the service meetings! So everything, including personal notes, must be destroyed.

OH, did they just start doing that? I wonder if they do that in the UK with the Data Protection Act? That's not done in the US so far.

They've done that in the UK for the last few years.
They threw a pile of Data Protection stuff at us at the same time as the Child Abuse stuff.
Most of the time we were so busy trying to work out what it would all imply for our workload, that we never thought about the implications of the "new" Child Abuse policies. -
