I realize cutting hair is more "art" than "science" but isn't there someway a hairdresser can give you the same cut each time? Some way to "quantify" the length the hair should be on the top, sides, back, etc?
I know this may sound silly, but I get mine cut religiously every 3-4 weeks. And I always use the same guy to cut it. It's one of these chic places and it's the owner of the salon who does it. My cut is a standard man's cut. But I like it a certain way, so that I don't end up with a haystack look because there's too much on the sides, or a scalped look because there's too little, etc. But I'll be darned if he cuts it the same way two out of five times now. I hooked up with this guy because at first he seemed to 'get it'. I told him how I wanted it, and he must have made mental notes, or something, but for a year or so it seemed about right each time. Now it's hit or miss. I keep going because I have come to know him and kinda like him. He's also good about getting me in for appointments. Of course, I always give him a nice tip. And I am sure he wants me as a patron.
I don't know, but do hairdressers try to keep in their mind, all of their customers preferences about length, type of cut, etc? Or do you need to tell them each time?
This is pet peeve #13 on my list.
