What would JWs do if... (my first post)

  What would JWs do if all the members of the governing body were assassinated? Do you think they would have serious doubts that Jehovah was truly with them? Would the whole organization fall apart?

  On a less serious note: Wouldn't it be nuts if all the anointed decided to try and make Armageddon come committing mass suicide? Or what if they all started playing highlander with each other. All the anointed running around with swords killing each other off, and when there is only one left, Armageddon would come, right? =P

  No it would not -- there would be a power struggle and I think there would be a few changes -- it would probably be of benefit to most witnesses. There would be some good JW apologist explanation and new light.

  No.

  It would just "prove" to the rank and file that Satan's world was "out to get Jehovah's organization" and it "really was the truth (tm)". It would make them stronger than ever. They could spin it beautifully.

  Look what happened to the U.S. after Sept. 11 - people felt compelled to put aside their differences, and certainly refrained from criticizing the President. The same thing would happen to the WTBTS

  Yes, I agree. I think it would make them all rally together and might make some go back that had left . It might make them stronger than ever.

  Some nutcase just went in there with guns a blazing to knock off the GB.

  the WTS would move on and spin it positive to show the end is near.

  I've often wondered what major event would make JW's doubt but I don't think assassination would be it.

  I needed a good laugh. Thank you. I like your Highlander idea. It might not actually be that exciting to whatch a bunch of 80-90+year olds try and have at each other with swords. If they could 'appoint' proxies who were more able, that would be entertainng. Ofcourse, if a proxy lost, so would the GB member who appointed him or her.
