    Hello : )

I'm twenty-one and left "the truth" five years ago, amidst questions going even beyond the society's credibility, and even beyond my own credulity. My quest of sorts began with inquiry, and has at this point developed into activism. I love my fellow man and woman. I probably agree with every statement for human rights ever enacted officially, or suggested publicly and rationally.

Among Jehovah's Witnesses is a kind of love that you would expect to find in persons truly concerned with the progression of mankind, and with the freedom and well-being of each person in our world.

I've only today begun researching the current condition of The Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society. I've read a number of articles, particularly ones concerning the society's involvement with the United Nations. I am amazed. I am happy. I am no longer Christian, and I no longer care.

I would be entirely over-joyed to see my old friends and my family participating in the further development of human relations. A world without religious separatism and hate: beautiful.

What will be required of us to enact such a step? Although the society might be unwilling at this stage to engage in philosophical inquiry, perhaps we'll see pragmatic involvement, at least. Yes they are denying said ties currently, but could it be that we've witnessed the society as a child, tentatively playing with a wonderful friend? What if Jehovah's Witnesses across the globe unitedly said, "It's ok. It's time for change within our organization. No longer can we stand by and watch as our fellow man suffers. No longer can we sit in our comfortable chairs and listen to talks as our spiritual (ideological) brothers shoo away insects during those same talks."

    Wouldn't that be great?

There are definitely factions within Bethel who would like to see that sort of reform; and I'm sure that many in the congregations would welcome it as well.

The Governing Body, however, seems to be staunchly conservative; and since they appoint their own successors, and tamp down all dissent, I don't see any prospects for change anytime soon.

But I would love to be wrong, of course.

If everyone on the planet agreed to live in peace and harmony. The WT would be the last hold-outs.

    My opinion

One of the wonderful facts about humanity that the WTS avoids is that we are a fractious, chaotic, messy race - that getting a group of people to agree on something is worse than herding cats. And that's one of the things that makes us great.

The best thing for you to do is make sure that you keep growing and becoming more aware of yourself and your internal motives and feelings... because that's the way that you can inspire others to live in a more loving manner - by doing it yourself.

Human Rights, Ethics, and Morality? These things are unimportant to the WTB&TS. That should be obvious through all of our collective experiences.....

Wt and the bible has a phobia about being part of the world. Until they get over that, there isn't much point in other promotions, imo.

    Can we spell I. D. E. A. L. I. S. T ?

What if Jehovah's Witnesses across the globe unitedly said....

Like has been said so excellently already, people don't herd well. The unitedness of the WTBTS is a sham, an enforced pleasantness, that would evaporate like smoke if the punishments were removed. Even if they DID succeed in getting 6 million people to act as one, I would run from them as fast as my little legs could carry me. Can we spell B. O. R. G. ?

There are natural societal trends that can be tracked, where the MAJORITY of people decide on a better way to live. Convincing so many people that our way is superior, can take a lifetime or more. Or a single act of self-sacrifice that inspires the hearts of a dozen or so disciples.

I think you have just found your life's work.

    First of all, welcome aboard!

A world without religious separatism and hate: beautiful.

I must agree that religion separates people, and in some cases even destroys people, but there is no point in trying to stop it. People are going to read the bible no matter how much you tell them it's bullshit. People are going to smoke marijuana no matter how many times you tell them it makes them act like an ideot. Pedophiles will molest children no matter how many times you disfellowship them (if any)

The bottom line is, people are going to do what they do, no matter how many others think the course of action is wrong. My opinion is people are too damn concerned with what other people are doing, some of them to a point where they have absolutely no clue what they're doing themselves.

That's why I let people do what they do, and take care of myself. There are exceptions, however; people who are close to me and children.
