Abusing human fears and emotions

ok, this sounds kinda stupid, but i've been thinking of it all night long at work. Almost every government and every organization that has used sheer fear to move the emotions of its followers has fell. And well, people can only be scared and afraid for so long before they either break down into a mental illness, or walk away and say f**k it all.

Me and my g/f had a little talk today. I knew something was wrong, but she wouldn't admit it at first. Then she told me she wished things could be different, and she just had this scared look on her face. So thats where coming in at work falls into place. I realized that she's afraid of everything she's been taught. About the end, about being disfellowshipped, about the elders not accepting her therefore god not accepting her. Pretty much she's afraid of losing everything because of one word, fear. She's afraid of these bastards, and I think she's had enough.

Every Jehovah's Witness is afraid of one thing, wether they'll admit it or not. They are afraid of them, not God. They hold all the dice, and they have all the cups for the kegs.

Okay, so the main point is, the reason why the Watchtower will fail, and fail miserably is because their control tactic is fear. Nobody can be scared forever, especially where there is a vast treasure of information everywhere. So if you really really want to free a Jehovah's Witness, all you have to do is dig to the root of all their fears......the elders.

Another good post. I think a lot of people do fear the elders. I personally do not understand this. There was a post a while back and the lady said the elders came to her house that she moved into but didn't want to see them. I read that post and thought if she is happy with her decision why not sack up tell them to leave you alone, get df'ed or disassociate yourself, but for some there is a lot more to it I guess. I guess it is fear.

I am currently going to the meetings, and I can honestly say I love Jehovah. I am not blind to the fact that the organization has many flaws, but as I stated in an earlier post which ones don't. The biggest thing for me is knowing that I am serving Jehovah and not the WTBS. I can see how people get the teo confused with both.

The elders have talked with me about several questionable things, but the bottom line is if I disagree I tell them. They can show me scriptures all night and I can show them scriptures all night showing that god is more concerned about us loving one another more than anythng else. He could care less if I have a Go-T, etc etc.

For all those still active keep telling yourself that God's number one quality is love and he will make matters right at his time. So if elder so and so thinks you are bad, ok so be it. If in your heart you know you are doing all you can, awsome. Also pray about it. Some here have prayed and feel their prayers were answered when they got out. Again, nobody can judge except god. Elders are have as many flaws and shot-comings as me. I do not view them as superior, and if following bible council neither should they (not the case a lot of the times).

Wow, that was a rant I appoloigize. Again, excellent post. I hope you and your g/f find peace, love and happiness.

the JWs can keep the flock scared and in place if they keep them IGNORANT and unable to help themselves. Remember the old adage " Jehovah will provide" ... yeah, right.

While the world strives to educate and promote wellbeing in the 21 century globally, JWs are the only group that discourages education of anykind ( unless it benefits them). This alone should be an eye opener to anyone interested in the faith.

We all have different experiences, but from the different halls I have been to this seems to be lessing. Some of the older elders do frown on it more so than the younger ones but again, why let what someone esle think control you. I recived 2 degrees while going to the meetings, I can think of 8-9 people with associates, and 6 other getting their Bachelors.

To the original poster, you are in a tough spot from reading your other post. Just be there for her. Listen to her and assure her that people of all kinds make mistakes. Tell her to follow her heart. If she wants to maintain a stron realtionship with Jehovah then encourage her to do so and don't worry about what other imperfect men think. Good luck with your difficult situation.

Interesting post! But I do think one comment is made a little too "general".

They are afraid of them, not God.

I WAS afraid of the elders. But I equated them to God. Considering how I'd been raised in the org, I really believed that they had a direct line to God. For MANY years after my DFing, I did not think I had God's approval because I didn't have the elders approval. For many people it takes a LOT of therapy and a LOT of time before realizing that elders do NOT equal God.

well i used the word "them" because she's afraid of more than the elders....she's actually afraid of "THEM" as in everyone else. she's afraid of being kicked out of the "social circle" and everything of the sort....
