I believe a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request could be sent to the FBI to get any files they had concerning Rutherford.
Anyone interested in doing that?

Why? Are you planning on deporting him?
America still is a free country...
Hey, that'd be fascinating for the sake of history.
Sounds interesting. I'm surprised no one has already done this.

That's a great idea, but I would keep "bttt-ing" this for a week or so to see if Amazing or AlanF or someone else has already obtained it.
What does the FOI request involve? How much $ do they want?
Information on how to do it for anyone interested.
There has to be records on Rutherford. He spent time in a federal prison. Also, there must be records on the WT because they were anti-government. I thought about contacting the FBI myself, have never done it.

bttt, has anyone tried retrieving the file?
Yes, I submitted a FOIA request.
The resulting files that I received did not provide anything really new about Rutherford.
I limited my search request to FBI files containing "biographical data" concerning J.F. Rutherford in order to get a quicker response as well as to reducing the copying cost involved.
Here is an interesting item that I might mention. J. Edgar Hoover did not like Rutherford very much and wrote a letter recommending that Rutherford be interned if war broke out (This was pre-WW2). This became moot thought as Rutherford died before the beginning of the war.
