WHAT:

Victims of sexual abuse in Jehovah?s Witness congregations will distribute flyers at several Nashville area Kingdom Halls announcing the first annual conference of a self help group for molestation victims. They will also deliver the one thousandth stuffed lamb to a church as a symbol of abuse awareness within the denomination and a service announcement for the bulletin board of local Kingdom Halls.

The conference of ?silentlambs? will be held on March 27-28, 2004 at the Sheraton Music City in Nashville .
WHEN:

Thursday, February 12, 1:00 P . M.

WHO:

Several child sex abuse victims, their families, along with former Jehovah's Witness elder William H. Bowen of Calvert City , KY , national director of "silentlambs," the nations only support group for abused Jehovah?s Witnesses.

WHERE:

Jehovah?s Witness ?Kingdom Hall?, 6020 Obrien Avenue , Nashville , TN.

(Directions) I-40 west exit 204. Go south on Briley P arkway , Obrien is the first right past I-40 before you get to Charlotte street . Go west on Obrien 4-5 blocks church is on right side of street. We will be on sidewalk outside front door.

DETAILS:

Three years ago, national media first began to expose that Jehovah?s Witnesses headquarters has a policy that en dan gers children. Since then more than 6,000 abuse survivors have came forward to say they too were molested and silenced by Jehovah?s Witness policy on child abuse.

Dateline, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, BBC, CBC, New York Tim es and over 30 countries around the world have presented documentaries that have identified child rapists who enjoy sanctuary in Jehovah?s Witness congregations.

In the last three years, more than 40 civil sexual abuse lawsuits against ?Watchtower? (the administrative arm of Jehovah?s Witnesses). Material will be provided to VERIFY AND add to this information at the press conference.

SILENTLAMBS is a support group of victims of child abuse and USES stuffed lambs as a symbol of abuse awareness.

Somehow I doubt the announcement will actually be posted on any information boards at local KHs.

Oh boy, I'm sure the local elder body and weeping and knashing their teeth over yet another example of unwanted publicity!! I agree with Rocketman though: there's a better chance of Osama Bin Laden converting to Christianity, than of this announcement being put on the Bulletin Board at the Hall.

This is really a remarkable achievement by those who've fought to make Jehovah's Witnesses child abuse problem known to the world. JW's are so secret about what really goes on behind "these four walls."

This quote makes it sound as if JWs are really known as phedophile protectors. If you really think of the exposure, it really isn't a huge story to tv networks. Dateine NBC only aired a some 20 minute story about the allegations after not promising when, if ever, the story would actually air. The show drew one of the lowest viewership rating for the show on that night for the season. Dateline hasn't done any follow-ups or aired the same segment since then. Other networks, like CBS and CNN, have never done any in-depth investigation reports.

Joker... I wonder just how ``huge" the story would be to you if you were the parent of a child molested by someone you trusted as spiritual brother, and wer told with a shrug of a shoulder that you/they were powerless to act because of the absence of a second witness to the incident.

Joker has a point. I know hardly anyone from the hall who has EVER seen or heard ANYTHING AT ALL about the child abuse scandal's. If the information has been so widely exposed to the public, than surely a lot of the dubs would have heard about it. That does'nt take away from the great work Silent Lamb's is doing. I'm glad somebody is. But it remind's me of how the witnesses are always saying how they are "Rocking" the nations and so forth, with Jehovahs' message, when in fact nobody really cares. People SHOULD CARE about this horrendous abuse stuff going on, but if you have to tell everybody how everyone knows about it, than everyone doesn't. It also reminds me of when the co said the Kingdom Hall was the happiest place on Earth. Would'nt that golden nugget of information be self evident?
