I'm currently still in, just recently I've noticed a new face on the JW social scene, this person is still very much a study they are sociable and very likeable. But this person is far from trustworthy and is rather manipulative already causing small divisions climbing the social ladder trying to gain favour with certain people. I find it funny that the organisation prides itself on its loyalty towards one another given its many examples published in the watchtower but yet things like this happen.. It make me think How can a study who isn't baptised in the name of the governing body, cause so much trouble Among 'brothers and sisters'. Makes you think if the great tribulation strikes how many will truly stick with one another and not perform a Judas and how easy will it be for someone with bad intentions to infiltrate and cause massive damage within the organisation.

If you think that all elders actually care about you, this is naive. As any organization, there are social climbers and psychopathic people among them. But there are also true believers who actually mean well and simply followers of the leadership, innocently. -

As far as loyalty is concerned you're right in suggesting that the Witnesses will throw each other under the bus. And the organization would do the same thing to its members. You can tell this by the pettiness of the brothers and sisters which is a reflection of their leadership.

There are certainly manipulative persons in the 'truth' and a fair number of positioned persons who are often very self important, and/or unpleasant to deal with.
I imagine that a place like Bethel plays hell on people's ego's.

I think that's very prevalent in the Kingdom Halls and Bethels.

If you want an idea of what living with JWs would be like if their pipe-dream of the "great tribulation" were to ever come to pass, and resources were limited, just watch "the loving brotherhood" when the doors open at a regional convention venue at 8:00 AM.
You know those scenes of US "black Friday" Wal-Mart shoppers stampeding down the doors to get a 60 inch TV at 25% off? That is the scene that I just described above.
In a real "great tribulation" scenario, JWs would act like anyone else: 1/3 would be genuinely caring, 1/3 would share as long as they were not really inconvenienced, and 1/3 would tear the eyes from your sockets to get an extra chicken wing.

There are many bad-intentioned people within the organization who have already caused massive damage. Be careful to whom you give your trust. Of course, there are many lovely, and loving people who are JWs, but people can and will turn on you in a heartbeat. Stay away from the 'study', you will only get yourself in trouble.
