- Spontaneity is defined as the act or quality of acting without thinking in advance.Remember when the speaker for the Sunday Talk forgot to show up, was backed up in traffic or forgot the outline of his talk at home? What did we do? We went straight to the Watchtower study and left early.Thinking back, why couldn't we read scriptures and discuss and fill the hour? Doesn't that tell you that the WTBTS really controls every second of the meetings? Can you name one minute or any time that isn't programmed at the Kingdom Hall or Assemblies?
Everything is programmed with no spontaneity allowed!

Ha, it was funny hearing the muffled cheer and see everyone looking round at each other grinning when that happened in our hall. Everyone came out of the KH those days with huge smiles on their faces, almost skipping with joy - we only had to sit through 45+ minutes and had an extra hour to spend on Sunday morning!!
Crazy when you look back - you could save the entire trip and gain a full 2 hours of "getting ready", travel and utter-boredom time.

I've never experienced this. Anytime the scheduled speaker didn't show, they'd do the WT study and some elder would get one of his regular outlines and give a talk afterwards.
You do make a good point, though. Sorta like they've gone on record saying that people just discussing the bible in small groups without WT publications would lead to people going back to the doctrines of christendom. It's clear that they realize that they have to keep very tight control on everything, otherwise it would all fall apart.

We all were happy when the meeting was cut short. I remember a brother who forgot his talk outline at home and tried to convince the Elders in my congregation that he could give the talk without the outline. He had a really good memory but they refused to let him give the talk.
It just shows you how they control every second of the meetings. Everything is force fed and that no one can be trusted.

Good point
One thing I personally remember about those meetings while growing as a kid , they were extremely boring. long and not fun at all. Couldn't wait for the final prayer.
When it was over is when the smiles came on my face and we were heading home for lunch. Don't get me started on Assemblies

That's nothing compared to the unbridled joy when an entire meeting is cancelled due to bad weather!
You'd think JWs didn't like to go to meetings....hmm.....
