If anyone has written documentation or incontrovertible evidence of wrongdoing by the WTBTS, all they have to do is file an IRS Form 13909. No petition is required for the IRS to investigate a tax-exempt organization.
A current list of violations are:
- Directors/officers/persons are using income/assets for personal gain
-
Organization is engaged in commercial, for-profit business activities
- Income/assets are being used to support illegal or terrorist activities
- Organization is involved in a political campaign
-
Organization is engaged in excessive lobbying activities
-
Organization refused to disclose or provide a copy of Form 990
-
Organization failed to report employment, income, or excise tax liability properly
-
Organization failed to file required federal tax returns and forms
-
Organization engaged in deceptive or improper fundraising practices
-
Other (describe):
It would take a lot of evidence to prove wrongdoing for items 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, and 10. The remaining violations probably don't apply because religious organizations are currently not required to file annual returns in the USA.
Any petition requesting the IRS to revoke the WTBTS's tax-exempt status are a waste of time. The laws need to be changed before the IRS will ever be able to suspend/revoke an organization's tax-exempt status that claims to be a religious organization.
