Well, I finally finished writing 16 Counseling Statements and 16 Student Evaluations for my students. Took all weekend...with several breaks. This is the part of my job I hate. Had to resist the temptation to come to this site several times. Just wanted to share that.

    Good Night.

Yeru, My worst time was teaching a video taped graduate course. There were 180 students out there. It took me an hour just to open all the mail. Then I had a stack of paper standing about two foot high. It was grim.

    YIKES,

I know to some that 16 doesn't sound like much but the paperwork that comes with them is enormous. We "grade them" in five areas, Written Communication, Oral Communication, Leadership, Group Work, and Research Ability. In each of these there are several different projects evaluated. Each evaluation on each student has to state their strength, weakness, and improve areas on each event...then the opening counseling laying out expectations for the course...end of course counseling telling them how they did, and the 1059 which is like the report card. All in 12 working days. In class from 830 AM until 5 PM giving classes, or evaluating them giving classes. Then I turn around and do it again starting Monday

Wow. So, each soldier gets a lot of time, attention and scrutiny invested in him/her. I can see how the military helps w personal development, as well as loyalty and professionalism. Do you also have a hand in directing them into areas where their individual skills would be useful?

    SS,

When I have soldiers in my own particular MOS (job) then yes, I also direct them as to where I think they can serve their own goals and the needs of the military best.
