JW's and Embargoed Technology

I've been thinking of another way to cause trouble for the Watchtower. I don't think one silver bullet will take it down. It's more of a siege campaign.

Here is something I am thinking about. I know that in the past the watchtower used cutting edge technology to set up printing processes in areas where the work was banned. (for example the laptop-laser printer workshops the carried in old suitcases in Kenya in the 80's.).

What if the WTS was using certain technology in areas where such technology is embargoes (Libya, Sudan, Iran). It would be hard to catch them, but if caught, the State department could launch an investigation into the watchtower's operation that would be quite painful for the wts.

on the flip side, some governments might not like it at all if they were to find out that the Watchtower owned stock in an American defense corporation. What little goodwill they manage to have with governments is usually by waving the neutrality flag.

Sounds like another "let's flush all the toilets in Bethel" idea to me.

not post 9-11. The question is whether they have any missionaries in an embargoed country.

I've got a better idea; flush all the bethel toilets with full rolls of toilet paper in them!

I think any idea that can chip away at the WTS is good. If someone doesn't want to "flush toilets", good for them.

I think the US government is happy to have evangelical religions like the WTS peddling their wares abroad as they are basically paving the way for American interests and are fundamentally "American".

Because of this, I doubt the government would take any action to stop them.

It seems to me that the best way to "take down" the WTBTS is to expose their erroneous teachings and doctrines just as they have always done to the other religeons . . . surely there must be individuals out there with enough Bible knowledge and insight to expose them. We all sit around typing posts as if we are all that . . . like we know better . . . I have noticed that the one thing that we ex-JW's do not have going for us that the WTBTS has is that we are not organized to do anything other than crying and bitching about what we think they did to us. (don't get me wrong; I have alot to be disenchanted about).

Perhaps an anti-JW cult that goes door-to-door with its own literature to ensure that the JW's never bring in another "new one" might be more formiddable. Perhaps the mass printing and distribution of documentation might be a good start. Anyone want to join me in the anti-JW door-to-door work?

    Humorously,

one thing that we ex-JW's do not have going for us that the WTBTS has is that we are not organized to do anything

There ARE some ex-JW's involved in organizations seeking to affect how the WTS works, like silentlambs and AJWRB.

But overall, we are not officially organized because we value our diversity and our individual freedom. At the same time, we show the JW's that it is possible to be a happy and contributing member of society without being a member of THEIR society. And one-by-one, due to sites like this one, JW's who WANT TO are safely leaving the organization, knowing that they aren't alone.

I, personally, don't want to be "organized" into any group that has anything to do with membership or former membership in a religion.

Gita has a good point with the jw's holding stock in arms.

To Simon, don't forget that England sent those kooky puritans here...We didn't invent odd religion after all.
