Thought some history buffs in here might like to see some photographs of this item I bought in auction over 30 years ago at age 6. I've had it ever since, it's very rare, a copy I know exists in the British Museum, there's one in France, one in Scotland, one in South Africa and my one here. There may be more, who knows?Anyway, it's a chronological history of mankind from Adam and Eve all the way through the human family tree up to 1879. Fantastic detail. If some of you require further close up images, feel free to ask, and I'll do them for you.

    Enjoy it!!

My apologies for the delay, I also forgot to mention the dimensions of this work of art. It is about 2' in height and over 25' long!! I'm very sorry, but the last image is failing to load here, the depiction finally being of the USA Presidents up to 1879.

So thats just about it I guess, like I said, enjoy them and as before click upon any image to enlarge, though may take several seconds to do this, just took me nigh on 50 minutes or so to get this far.

I caught a brief glimpse, it looked pretty cool Celtic...

I would like to see a close-up of the last part (1879).

Can you be a little more specific as to whether it is a wall mural (pinup), or a book, or ???

Other questions: what are the total dimensions? How do you store it to protect its value if there are so few copies? Have you ever had it appraised and is it insured? How old is it and is it and how far off in accuracy compared to today?

Can I ask a million questions? good

    Celtic,

I have never been to an auction where they allow six year olds to bid! Mind you, I have never been to a Cornish auction.

This looks a little like the later edition of Lyman's 'Historical Chart'. The 1st ed. was c1856. Does yours have a date? The early editions were not illustrated.

    Best regards - HS

PS - Apologies Mark, I noticed just this instant that you had it dated at 1879. I have both Lyman's and Hull's 'Wall Charts' in 1st edition. Hull's is also typically beautifully illustrated but is an earlier edition to your own. Who is the author?

Adams was the author. A.H. Walker the Publishers.

Bisous, it's a book, chromolithograph on linen paper, varnished finish, condition, poor to fair.

    Best regards.

    Celtic,

Ah, yes, Adams Pictorial History. It was based on Hulls' not Laymens as I had a first supposed, even has a copied section around 500AD. Nice one! Thank you for showing it.

    Best regards - HS
