In the 80's we used to pass around tapes. We were warned that we did not know where these came from and eventually it stopped. Some of the tapes were quite good. I remember one called "The trial of jesus" abut 2 hours long and excellent. If anyone has this tape, please contact me.

Do you have a bit more description on them? Were these passed around by JWs? Were they comedy tapes? Were they serious bible based tapes not approved by the society? Help me out here.

they were audio tapes passed around by the jws in the mid to late 80's. It was all unoffical. Somone apparently tapped a talk and made a copy for a friend and so it grew. Eventually they were everywhere. We were told that Do's and Co; gave the talks, I actually had this tape in my possession at one time. There were many others, ones about depression and things of that sort. They were so good, the WTS stopped us from (well unoffically) passing them around. The one i'm looking for is "The trial of jesus" so if anyone has ever heard of this, maybe still has it, or even remembers all of us passing this stuff arund, pls contact me. I'd like to find a way to get that tape. I am sure somone out there on the net has that tape.

they were serious bible based tapes and actually quite good unlike the drivel in the mags and the usual talks.

Wednesday, that tape was probably the one of Cyril Aulicino's talk..............we went to it at a local High School when he performed it.................I remember it vividly, he was the best speaker I ever heard. When I say he "performed" it, I meant it. He even had a special microphone that was fastened to his neck so he could walk freely around the stage, hands free to gesture. It was the most detailed talk I ever heard about the account, which is probably basically the same as the Mel Gibson movie out now.

I too remember the tape and was at the time quite impressed tho a little concerned that he indulged in a great deal of speculation and was at times applying things differently than the WT. Since then I've learned that his spin and style was typically Baptist. He expounded on the inconsistancy of the NT story with history and exploited these as evidence of ILLEGALITY of the trial rather than the more obvious fictional nature of the tale.

We have it. Dave has been talking about listening to it again, because it was so accurate. Cyril gave the talk here in Seattle in the 80's and we recorded it. I don't know how a copy would work, but we could do that.
