Usually at the meetings, we read the JW literature and repeat what's written in the magazines. Did you ever give your own opinion and not the one expected of you?
Did you ever try to say your own opinion?

Yes I did. I can't remember what it was now although for a long time I couldn't forget. All I got was dead silence........and the study conductor immediately asked the reader to read again without comment. I even took him off guard. Boy was my husband upset with me! LOL

Once at a Wed. night book study I made that mistake. Got the crap slapped out of me at home by loving mother. Another time during the Watchtower study on Sunday I answered the "canned" answer from the paragraph, then commented that the idea was poorly thought out and I started to give my preferred understanding. I was cut off immediately by the Cong. Servant and my parents were asked to keep me under control. The cong serv. knew I hated him so he didn't have the kajunas to confront me, went to my folks.

Well, what do you I did (Comments You Won't Hear at the WT Study)?
I always made sure that my "opinion" was carefully supported by scriptures and previous comments by the WTS.
It is part of the reason why JWs I do meet say, "we miss your comments."

i freely express myself when me and the elder that i study with talk. we seem to have A LOT of the same views about the organization and about fellow members in the kingdom hall. i was amazed! but for right now i'll bite my tounge when it comes to the Watchtower study on Sunday. I really had to this past sunday on the 15th paragraph. one person actually said that the NWT bible was translated into 300 languages!!! they misinterpreted it, where they said bible study articles are translated into 300 different languages. but i looked in my bible to just make sure, and i was right, NWT into 11 full translated languages and 2 partial translations.

Minnimus just posted something recently about whether we were lambs or not, and my reply post covers this subject about stating my own opinion.
Yep, I was never afraid to state my own opinion. I was careful who I stated it around after being publicly chastized. That didn't stop me though. I'm very stubborn when cornered.
