well, another shitty nite at work. i got to thinking, because i usually don't have anyone to talk to. humans have instincs to eat, sleep, find a life mate, etc etc etc (the list can go on and on). if god gave us all of these instincts and feelings, then why didnt' he give us the natural instinct to love him eh? i don't understand how the God of the OT can say that he loves you, then kills 70,000 people because a king banged a girl behind his wife's back. thats not instinct, at least i don't think so. where's this "programming" eh?

I can't comment on the God of the old testiment. ofcourse that is very cruel.
I do think that many people, incuding myself will say they do feel an inbuilt need for God. I had that long before getting involved with J.W.s and still have it now I have left.
That doesn't mean I have any understanding of who he/she/it is though.

what i mean tho is that when we are born, we have a natural instinct for mommy and daddy, we have natural instincts to play w/ ourselves (heheheh), but loving God is something you have to learn. Wouldn't the creator "program" you with loving him before you loved your parents?

I think that God created us in such a way that we fulfill needs at the time we have them. A baby needs to fulfill basic needs.
An adult then need more in his life than ?mummy?. Our needs develop as we grow. Spiritual needs come later, as does the need to find a mate as you mentioned.

I don't know about having a natural instinct to love God, but I do know he endowed us with the natural instinct to love going to the Mall! Maverick, I love the Sears tool dept.!!!

He did dustbin! It's that literalism you've ascribed to in the story telling of the bible that is screwing with your head. Look for a new paradigm!
