Of course, the women had a 20 minute headstart over the men to make it possible for a woman to win.
It's very exciting!

And it's almost 80 degrees here . . .
I ran in the LA Marathon in 1995

The woman won ($100,000!) for the first time ever. The 2nd place will maybe be David Karui but it's close. He's 26.
Karui came in 3rd winning the men's ($50,000). A woman came in 2nd too.
It's a new format to let the women's elite begin 20 minutes prior. Interesting, don't you think?

The NYC Marathon has had the elite women start early the last couple of years.

Interesting Brian. Thanks. I misunderstood what the LA was doing. I guess it's the 1st time for them. I was amazed at the woman's (Tatiana something from Romania) age.

I think it's awesome that the womens winner is 49... but I think the staggered start is pretty lame. Just have a mens winner and a womens winner.
