How the WatchTower steals your life!

By filling our waking hours with taskes to perform the WatchTower takes the most valuable thing we have in limited supply, time. As one runs the maze of JW duties they are kept busy until that one can no longer keep up and then what is their reward? They are left behind! If every faithful Witless did all that they are asked to do they would have to forsake marriage, children and any personal pursuits and in the end it would still not be enough! Never will the WTS tell the drones that they can slow down. They are a power hungary, heartless, demi-god without compassion or concern for the flock! If the Brotherhood listened to their Masters directives to the letter the result would be that the membership would be totally mindless slaves with no life. As it is the deeper one is immersed into the WTS the less thinking they really do and the more repressed their own personalities become.

To you lurkers: Don't let the WTS steal your life, take it back. Jesus said his load was light, he was a compasssionate Master. See how different Jesus was when compared to the WTS leaders? They dishonor him by their guilt-driven beating of the flock. Think about this! Maverick

Hey Maverick, I enjoy your posts, and this one hits home. My kids are feeling the brunt of it now. How it feels to slowly lose their position on the priority list. Sad.

have to forsake marriage, children and any personal pursuits

Isn't this what Jesus asked of the apostles? Isn't this their logic and justification for abandoning their loved ones?

Let this be a warning as to what happens when you let ANYONE make your life's decisions. Don't leave the WTS to pick another organization or individual to make your decisions, neither non-JW family or friends can tell you what to do and we should not expect them to. Do your own research, gather information, examine your own feelings, and make the best possible decision at the time. Be prepared to live with the results of your own decisions then. I have listened to many people who aren't JWs complain about their family, their spouse, their friends, their "church" making decisions for them. Well, they let them. Abuse is abuse and it is found in many places. Be alert. Amazingly, Al-Anon points out how often people leave one alcoholic spouse only to marry another one.

That's an excellent point, Blondie, about alcoholic spouses. Over the past year, I've considered several times going to a church or synagogue to worship, but every time I chicken out. I'm just so scared of getting trapped again. This is something I resent deeply, the fact thet the borg has turned me so paranoid/distrusting/fearful.

But on the other hand, it's been really nice working in my yard on weekends, instead of field service, meeting, and personal study. Amazing how much more we can get done without those unrealistic goals hanging over our guilt-ridden heads!

    Great post.

This is one of the sure signs of a controlling religion - expecting too much of your time. The group I attend expects one get together a month, plus 8 festivals a year, and if you don't want to go, you just let them know! No problemo!

The WTS takes your life away with its endless demands. You are right that if a JW followed ALL the "guidelines" they would not have time for a family or a job, they'd be preaching, studying or at meetings 24/7.

    Can you lurkers say "cult"?

    Great post

It's true that you don't even notice the controlling effects until you finally leave, I suppose that most of us feel bitter over the amount of years we have wasted, I know that I do.

Good post Maverick. One reason why I left the Org. was that they asked too much. I knew that they were unreasonable, unlike what Jesus asked of us.

Thanks for the feed back y-all. I thought that I was out in left field but I guess not!

The WTS is never satisfied! They will compare this year with last year, this country with that country! The next comvention or next campaign. If there is a drop in production they beat the drum harder! And they pay you NOTHING! They tell you to go see God for your payment! What a scam! And if you die doing their bidding they tell your survivors that they will have to wait on God to bring you back! They guarantee that God will do this! How presumptuous!

You lurkers remember this, as long as you are doing what the WTS wants and asking nothing of them, they will be happy with you. But don't kid yourself, when you need something they will be sitting on their hands looking the other way! Maverick
