Girl Scouts

Well Shotgun persuaded me to tell you all this story...

The Mom of 2 of my Girl Scouts developed a lump before Christmas. After her biopsy which we all thought would show nothing we all felt a special world collapsing. We cried.

Well this Sunday at our Girl Scouts meeting place we are having a benefit dinner for our cancer patient. We've sold 350 tickets and of course more will come. The Girl Scouts really do care about their peers and we all get teary eyed when discussing our frinds Mom. Even sadder is the thought that the youngest (18 mos.) might lose her Mom. Unthinkable.

The good news we'll be announcing on Sunday is that the oncologist says that after August he never expects to see our patient again! Her hair will grow back and we can get on with the fun parts of life.

Our community has once again pulled together for a family in crisis. Everyone, no matter what their belief, has shown support. This is how humanity will continue, together.

    Thanks Panda...

What touched me when you told me about her was her age 30 and the young children she had..the terrible prognosis and how her friends at Girl Scouts rallied to help and the wonderful direction the story has taken....

Looks like she may have it beat, what a relief to that young family...good to see she has friends like the Panda's, truly an endangered species and also the love and support of all those involved in that terrible worldly association under the god of this system of things the Girl Scouts...

Thank you Shot Gun and Valis. I know those cookies go fast ===============> Hey remember that little pacman game where he gobbled up all of the other dots and blue meanies(or am I confused?) anyway that's what happens with girlscout cookies. Nick even sold them at work! He just wants to gain that SWEET popularity.

I often think about the young kids at the Halls and how much fun they would have belonging to a group of their peers. Not necessarily GirlScouts but even sports at school. How HOW are these activities evil? Every girl in our Junior troop has shown concern for the pals Mom. They've gone to visit and have asked about her... that's the way kids need to learn about life. I might start rambling --- I'll post after the benefit Sunday and tell you how it went.

    Hugs, Panda

    Thank you Panda,

for sharing your story. The scouts are a great organization. My daughter was a girl scout until she was 12; at which time "dance" began to dominate her life. I always routinely bought 3 cartons of Samoas from her so she would not have to go door to door ( being raised a JW left me scarred in some ways!) My 9 year old boy is in Weblos. The Pinewood Derby is a yearly big event in my house.

My wifes sister valiantly fought breast cancer for 5 years, and just last June, lost the battle at age 48 ( my age). She left a 15 year old daughter behind. The local Scout community was supportive and behind us all the way.

franklin, 5 years is a long time to fight the big C. How awful for your sister inlaw and your family.

UPDATE: The benefit dinner was Sunday and it went great!

I know this has nothing to do with the posting, but I absolutely love the chocolate mint girl scout cookies. I swear I can eat a whole box in one sitting if I let myself.

Everyone has their favorite cookie. I think that the mint cookies are the most "adult" cookie.

Our 30 yr old Cancer Mom is feeling pretty good right now. She has just one more chemo treatment and the she'll start the radiation. She'll have to live in housing near the hospital because thats in Corpus Christi.(7 weeks). But she is just glad to be getting to the end of treatment before the girls start school in August. When I get them all tog I'll snap a photo and put it up here.

On the lighter side, even Nick (Mr.Panda) sold cookies this year!!! Well I hope no dubs saw him because he'd get df'd for supporting such a horrid organization.
