Did any of you find that after meetings/conventions and the family was headed back home that everyone was so happy yelling, speaking above each other, and rarely was it about the actual CONTENT of the meeting but the latest gossip and BS. And then someone in the family would say "Wow, look at us, were really happy and stuff because of the holy spirit from the meeting/convention?"

Just a annoying remembrence from growing up as a kid as a Joe Wit.

LOL It was always funny to listen to the remarks in the service meeting parts about the convention... when speaking about the content, the remarks were always cliched and perfunctory. The only sincere appreciation came when speaking about the socialization.

LOL got my forty - you have been getting so funny lately!

"Joe Wit" - good one. And it's true - the only time the conventions were interesting and exciting was WHEN THEY WERE OVER!

    HAHAHA

Substitute 'holy spirit' for 'Christian fellowship' and it is exactly like my family! It was always considered such a great thing cause we got to see our friends from all over.

I remember travelling to faraway conventions, Buffalo, Montreal (my last DC ever), the sheer number of JWs there was overwhelming - at that point, I was only there for the vacation and so I could stay in a swanky hotel. :)

LOL, I do remember that; in hindsight it was just pent up energy and being greatful to be out of the long winded meetings!

Generally too shattered to be upbuilt ! Somehow the WT seemed to find the only really hot weekend in the British calendar and we travelled home like limp rags . Tiredness can make you edgy and sadly it was often tense rather than happy.

I am well off out of all that

Hate to be the odd one out here, but as a family we had some really good times after meetings and travelling home from meeting and assemblies. We were always the last to leave the hall and often did post assembly work together. They were good times.

It's the doctrines and dogma of the centralized heirarchy that is filtered down to the local level that gets me not the sociability of the R&F.

I agree! Thats why I started this topic, because my family had good times after the meetings were over also. Sometimes we would buy chinese food at the end of the meetings and my father would buy a six pack of beer, unless he had a disfellowshipping meeting to attend then he would fast or something.
