OMG- what the hell is wrong with people?

It looks like Audrey Seiler's abduction was all a hoax- made up by HER !! What is wrong with people that they will stoop to this kind of thing for attention?

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,115959,00.html

But investigators obtained a videotape from weeks earlier showing Seiler buying the knife, duct tape, rope and cold medicine that she claimed her abductor used to restrain her.

The unexplained attack was the second reported by Seiler in two months.

On Feb. 1, she told police that someone struck her from behind and knocked her unconscious. She told police that she was then moved about a block from where she was attacked but was not sexually assaulted or robbed, authorities said.

    GRRRRRRRRRR

I was a doubting thomas from the time the story broke.

I do hope that she gets some medical care, as she seems very unstable. Harsh punishment doesnt seem fitting or helpful to me.

It just seems to be a cry for help...I don't think the heated media attention will help at all.

When someone disappears the police are compelled to treat the situation seriously and when it is a false report they spend a lot of money for nothing. On TV they were showing police officers with weapons drawn, so it't obviously the Madison police were very serious about this matter. However, it makes a person wonder if they will be somewhat skeptical when the next missing person report is received. If this young lady is proves to be free of mental problems, she could very well end up in jail. Bug

It will be interesting to watch and see if charges do arise -- I believe they should charge her with obstruction and whatever else is relative (probably all misdemeanors, but I'm not sure).

They did say, though, that they still believed her Feb. 1 story because her friends FOUND her unconscious... CNN said the police were not doubting that story at this time. hmmmm.

This whole thing disturbs me greatly. It's a smack in the face to all of the families who truly have lost loved ones, such as Dru Sjodin's family. I hope this girl realizes what she put her community and family through. :(

She needs to be charged and punished, IMHO.

News reports I heard said she was popular and well-respected at her high school in Rockford, Minnesota. Then when she moved to the U of Wisconsin, she became a "nobody".

Her first so-called abduction on February 1 got her all sorts of sympathy and attention on the Madison campus, just the attention she craved.

So then she goes and pulls this stunt close to April Fool's day.

If she is punished, it will send a warning to all would-be-abduction-fakers out there that such hijinks are not funny.

I live in Madison, and it's all we've been talking about at work. Her parents have her in therapy. Ok, why now? If she was so psycho why didn't anyone notice before? There are lots of "student crisis" counselors on campus. They have her in "therapy" so she won't go to jail. I think she needs some therapy while she serves time. This wasn't only a "Madison" event....helicopters from ALL OVER the country were here. MSNBC, CNN.....

If I was her mother I'd whip her ass for making me think she was dead for three days. And I don't believe in beatings, but I swear I'd make an exception in this case!

I heard she may have criminal charges filed against her and have to pay $75,000.00 dollars.

Actually I was judging a speech meet at Rockford High School this weekend.

It was weird. They had posters up, and in one of the rooms I was in they had a writing prompt on the board about her and everything. I have a feeling this will shake up the community quite a bit. I guess I really don't understand her motivation, and feel sorry for her in a way that she felt she needed to do this in order to get attention.

I have to admit I did think it was weird when she was totally unharmed in a marsh a few blocks from her apartment.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here...but perhaps they didn't think her psycho-ness was that bad. But it took something this serious and off the wall to make them realize how bad off she was. My family has denied for years that anything is wrong with my father. It will take a full-fledged murder on his part to make everyone realize what an abusive and ill man that he is. Even then, I'm sure excuses will be made.

    Just a thought...
