It's all to do with intent.
Bringing up an old post to update it or add something new is fine. Sometimes, however, it can be used as a means to embarrass a poster or even a whole site by concentrating on a particular subject/poster so as to reveal an underlying obsession.

It is annoying to come to the site and see multiple threads being BTTT'd by the same person. Especially if it involves old threads of their own. To me, that seems like spamming.
