Jehovah's grand scheme of things

The biggest thing I never understood about the JW religion was the grand scheme of things. Satan and Jehovah will battle at Armageddon, and Jehovah will win. Now, if Satan is a spirit creature who was created perfect, who the hell is Jehovah to say that he's going to win? Wouldn't Jehovah and Satan be equally as powerful? Also, if Satan knows Jehovah's plan for things to happen this way, wouldn't Satan refuse to battle Jehovah, just to piss him off? Why should Jehovah have his cake and eat it too?

That's like me planning my life, step by step, and planning how other people are going to affect my life. It just doesn't work that way.

I think I "get" the part about Jehovah being stronger than Satan (as the story goes).

But this part always puzzled me too:

Also, if Satan knows Jehovah's plan for things to happen this way, wouldn't Satan refuse to battle Jehovah, just to piss him off?

I guess Satan just doesn't study the Bible. If he did, wouldn't he have just left Jesus Christ alone rather than inciting the Jewish religious leaders and the Romans to murder him, thus providing the means to further God's purpose?

In the study of the Ezekiel book published by the WTS, they quoted the scripture that said Jehovah will put hooks in Satan's jaws and lead him into warfare. So I guess Satan has no choice in the matter.

    It's all kind of puzzling.

Since Satan obviously has access to all these WT publications, wouldn't Satan be smart enough to create a muzzle for himself? Or is Satan stupid enough to doubt that Jehovah's going to come after him?

If you know your opponent's moves, wouldn't it make you all that much more wise in the moves you make?

One of the other questions I used to ask (which really ticked off the old man and other adults) was this: if Jehovah already knows how it's going to come out, and since He's all-powerful, he would win even if He didn't already know it ... why the heck doesn't He just get it over with instead of monkeying around for all these thousands of years?

Oh, but Dan ... He will act on His time, and no one else's. Instead of questioning His word, you should ...

That claim of Jehovah and Satan is a false one.

Revelations talks about how the knees will bend and the tongues will speak in heaven, earth and under the earth.

Look at the places where this takes place. So it doesn't matter what people cast satan as or how powerful he is said to be. He is not getting away from being dealt with and professing the name Jesus Christ. He WILL be dealt with just like everyone else. There is not going to be some great battle between God and Satan. That's a misconception. The tribulation and armageddon are totally mis-read by them. When the distruction of all that is unholy comes, no-one can escape, not even the most powerful fallen angel.

I know some find it fascinating to ponder on such an event where two "great" powers battle it out like in the movies -- but show me a single scripture that says this is going to be so in that context. I have never come across one. If the Watchtower speaks of it in that way it is because it has interpreted it such. Take all the scriptural references and read before and after the quote and see for yourself how quickly you realise that scriptures are mis-represented.
