Does anyone know if the song "Crystal Blue Persuasion" (?) is about the Truth Book? I don't remember who sings it, but I remember a rumor to this effect?

Well, I think the song is by Tommy James, but I thought it was about drugs......or at least that's why I got my ass whipped by my mom for listening to it.

From what I can remember, this song was about peace, love, the hippie movement and LSD. Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James and the Shondells Look over yonder
What do you see?
The sun is a'rising
Most definitely
A new day is coming
Ooh ooh
People are changing
Ain't it beautiful
Crystal blue persuasion
Better get ready
To see the light
Love, love is the answer
Oooh ooh
And that's all right
So don't you give up now
So easy to find
Just look to your soul
And open your mind
Crystal blue persuasion
Mmm, mmm
It's a new vibration
Crystal blue persuasion
Crystal...blue persuasion
Maybe tomorrow
When he looks down
On every green field
And every town
All of his children
And every nation
They'll be peace and good brotherhood
Crystal blue persuasion
Yeah
Crystal blue persuasion
Aha
Crystal blue persuasion
Aha
Crystal blue persuasion
Aha
Ohhhh
Crystal blue persuasion

Interesting to read those words NOW - but, I don't know about the "open your mind" part.........
One of the last mtgs. we attended had a part on the Svc. Mtg. on using the "Art of Persuasion" while out in svc. and I just couldn't stomach it.

I remember being told that the song was about the "Truth" book. I remember someone saying that Tommy James had studied and loved the idea of living in a paradise earth. That's when he wrote the song "Crystal Blue Persuasion". Don't know if it's true or not, but I was told that many, many years ago.

This was one of my favorite songs as a tweenie, so I've been looking around. I always loved his music.
Found this from a 1995 interview with Tommy James:
HITCH: So what does the phrase "Crystal Blue Persuasion" mean?
James: I took the title from the Book of Revelations in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they're not together; they're spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it's my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested.http://www.angelfire.com/mo/stephenlaug/articles/hitch199508.html
Released in 1969, at the time he was a junkie, then the band split up in 1970, Tommy moved to a farm in New York, got straightened out. I forgot to write down the link for the bio. I could find no reference to JW, but there is a bible connection.
Interesting. That's the best I could find.
